Welcome to Riviera

One of the older neighborhoods in the city of Santa Barbara, the Riviera also ranks as one of the wealthiest. Named for its close resemblance to the Mediterranean coasts of France and Italy, the Santa Barbara Riviera bridges the two-mile gap between Sycamore Canyon and Mission Canyon. Alameda Padre Serra Road is the main thoroughfare of the Riviera, threading its way along the hillside. Its entry point is right near the mission and it flutters ribbon-like along the mountain all the way to Montecito. The neighborhood has winding streets with intricate stone work terracing built by early 20th-century Italian immigrants.

Most of the topography of the Riviera is relatively steep, making it particularly noteworthy for homes with outstanding views of the City of Santa Barbara, the Pacific Ocean and the Channel Islands. The Riviera is served by Franceschi Park and a portion of Hillside (Orpet) Park. Fine tourist lodging available at the beautiful El Encanto Hotel with it’s jaw-dropping views. The 3500 seat outdoor amphitheater of the Santa Barbara County Bowl is found in this neighborhood and a favorite venue for concerts.
